Niagara-on-the-Lake Real Estate – What’s on this Weekend?

OK, so it is only Wednesday and there is lots of work to be done on my niagara-homes.ca website, clients to see, homes to visit, the dreaded paperwork to be processed, copied, checked and filed, but I am already thinking about the weekend! So, what is happening this coming weekend?

NOTL Realty - Kevin Stokes | Niagara on the Lake

Well, truth is, there are always lots of options but starting with an 1812 walking tour seems like a good idea. A group will assemble at the Gazebo by the lake, and your tour guide will lead you on an hour long walk around the town giving you an interesting and detailed historical account of various people and events that took place during the war of 1812. The cost of the tour is only $5.00 and you even get to visit the Niagara Historical Museum which is worthwhile. It is a great way to learn about the background to your potential new home!

Afterwards, a stroll to the Niagara Pumphouse will give you a great insight into some wonderful works of art – some locally produced – some from further afield. As the name suggests, the historic building was originally a pumphouse for supplying water to the town but now, is a lovely gallery. It’s beautiful location on the Niagara River, within sight of Lake Ontario is another good reason to visit.

After all that walking, a bite to eat washed down with some refreshment will be necessary. The question is, which of the many pubs, bars, restaurants and wineries to choose? There are so many options! Maybe we will take a picnic and sit in the park instead. Sitting in the park and looking out to the lake, watching the boats is always a good way to pass the time!

Afterwards, just wander around Queen Street and browse in the various boutiques, shops and tea rooms.

Sunday might start with a full breakfast at a nearby diner. Of course, if staying at a B&B, this will be sorted for you already! How about a tour of some wineries? This can be done in a variety of ways. Of course you can get a map and organise it yourself, you can hire bicycles and take a guided tour, or you can take a mini bus and have a guided tour in comfort. Grape Escape is a great company to help you with this and they will deliver you back to your accommodation so you can ‘recover’ in peace.

There are so many other things I could do this weekend, I will have to tell you another time. Of course, if you become a resident of our community, you will soon find out there are so many things to do, you will never  run out of options. As always, Niagara Homes is here to help you make that dream possible.

I look forward to helping you.
